Ornamental Boys and Trash Girls, London

To elaborate on the previous post I decided to post two styles that I find typical for Britian. Of course we should not generalise and there are plenty of people in the UK dressing differently, but two things are very much noticeable 1) Ornaments are hot here (maybe not for boys, but he definitely has no problems with it) and 2) Punk never died out and influences everything (youth at least). And for the fun of it, analyse Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US (except New York which is a different story) and see the resemblances in what is considered to be 'hot and not' amongst the youngsters of these countries - oh and they are all part of the Commonwealth (except for the US.) I love to experience all these different cultures, styles and customs. It keeps the eyes challenged and the mind fresh haha.

i like girl's look! it's great :)

Man, that song makes me want to dance. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe guys shirt is awesome. And I love the girls hair.
When I was growing up there was always a group of punks hanging out in our little downtown and I thought they were the epitome of cool. By the time I was a teenager, in the late nineties, punk was anything but cool. Stupid Britney and boy bands.

Trash girls are the coolest! Ornamental boys too... but not so much !

I love this diptych image of these two incredibly stylish youngsters. I agree with you about the whole influence of Punk, especially on girls.

I love love both styles equally !
ReplyDeleteI believe that we can take something away from each stylish person around.
But the girl's hair is rockin' cool !
That's very interesting!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for pointing it out!!
Aahhh I hate to disagree with seemingly everyone, but I'm not digging this girl's look at all! I guess it goes back to my comment on your previous post, I love more simple things, and her particular look just seems too contrived for me, perhaps if she got rid of a few elements I would enjoy this more :/
ReplyDeleteI love the guy, though, his eccentricity strikes me as genuine, and I love his expression :D
By the way, I know I say this quite frequently when commenting on your photography (and please don't let that take away from the compliment, since I mean it completely each time), but your pictures are just stunning! The image on the left, especially, is all kinds of amazing, I wish I could see more of it to admire it even more!
omg wow, i love her hair! reminds me of alice delall!
ReplyDeleteWow! Love that girls style!
ReplyDeleteDeze foto's heb je niet zelf gemaakt toch? Of heb je nou exact hetzelfde meisje gefotografeerd als the Sartorialist?http://www.thesartorialist.com/photos/9229Plat0317Web.jpg

Re: Desire
ReplyDeleteDeze foto's heb ik zelf gemaakt. In Sydney had ik ook al per toeval exact hetzelfde meisje gefotografeerd als The Sartorialist. Tijdens fashion week is het nogal een klein wereldje. :)
Nice! Heb je the man himself dan ook al eens ontmoet? :O
ReplyDeleteRe: Hasonlo
ReplyDeleteJa 2x. Tijdens LFW en tijdens zijn book signing in Liberty of London - maar daar ben ik na 2 minuten weggegaan, want de rij was me te lang - hij is nog net geen Michael Jackson om voor te wachten (imho). :P

Thank you for the lovely comment you left on my blog. I really appreciate it. Your blog is truly inspirational. I always enjoy looking at the pictures you take cause you have a great eye for fashion. These shots are amazing!
ReplyDeletethe trash look is definitely bold. I love adding trashy elements to my outfits, its a lot of fun! The key is just making sure some of the elements are tamer, I can't really get away with that look and be taken seriously in class, but its definitely fun to try :)
ReplyDeleteShe is so hot I wish I could pull off stuff like that! x
ReplyDeletegreat pictures
ReplyDeletethey both capture different but prevalent styles!! that guy's outfit is amazing!! so put together!
