Pop the Glock, Weekender
The track dates back to 2006, but Ed Banger Records only now released a videoclip to accompany it. I remember Uffie being very popular in the Amsterdam electro scene back in 2006. But I - kind of - doubt if she still could pull a decent sized crowd these days. I would love to know what your favourite artist is these days and why?

I love this song!!
ReplyDeleteI have so many faves that it's too many to name. You should check out Mayer Hawthorne, if you never heard of him. Very talented and soulful!

ReplyDelete& there's too many good music I'm currently listening to name, thanks for visiting my blog =)
Nice song! I had never heard it before... My favorite music acts change depending on my mood but some constant ones (and these represent all sorts of genres) are: Devendra Banhart, Beirut, Billie Holiday, João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso (both Brazilian), and Omara Portuondo (Cuban).
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for recommendations that more accurately match the stuff you're listening to, you should check out this website http://www.last.fm/ It keeps track of your music library as you play the songs, and it eventually starts recommending music especially for you on the homepage (you can also get some free mp3s) I love it haha :P
Oh, and lately I have been listening to a lot of Department of Eagles, Grizzly Bear, Blind Pilot, The Raveonettes, Andrew Bird, and Sonic Youth :P
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. I love your blog, and how it's this melting pot of fashion, photography, music, and film. It's a real treat.
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing about Uffie a couple of years ago, but I never actually heard any of her tunes until I watched the video you posted. Talk about sensory overload--the song is a tune, the clothes are gorgeous and kitsch, and the video itself is pretty fantastic.
Currently in heavy rotation for me are: Nina Simone and Lykke Li.

ReplyDeleteThis is prob not up your alley, but Jimmy Buffet remains and will always be my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI remember this song! I've always liked Justice more than Uffie though. Cool video though. My musical tastes are alllll over the place. Who are some of your favorite artists?
ReplyDeleteI am addicted to Redshape. http://www.delsinrecords.com/artist.php?idxArtist=36 (Electronic music from Berlin)
ReplyDeleteAnd also King Of Convenience is producing instant classic tunes. Only guitar and vocals, sometimes added with a piano and / or violin instrument playing in the back. They're performing today in Paradiso...unfortunately I don't have a ticket!
I love this song, it remainds me my trip to milan 2 years ago... It was fantastic, I have great memories also with this song :) But I've never seent the video, and my first impression about that: She looks great, look at her jumper with this fringle sholders or her over knee socks... Fashion isn't so fast as we think!!
ReplyDeleteRe: All
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments and the tips on artists. I will definitely check out each one of them, because I love new music!

I like the song, but I think my favorite part of it is the pop-art style of the video and the fashion-y influences of it, if you will.
