Pop the Glock, Weekender

The track dates back to 2006, but Ed Banger Records only now released a videoclip to accompany it. I remember Uffie being very popular in the Amsterdam electro scene back in 2006. But I - kind of - doubt if she still could pull a decent sized crowd these days. I would love to know what your favourite artist is these days and why?

  11. Nice song! I had never heard it before... My favorite music acts change depending on my mood but some constant ones (and these represent all sorts of genres) are: Devendra Banhart, Beirut, Billie Holiday, João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso (both Brazilian), and Omara Portuondo (Cuban).

If you're looking for recommendations that more accurately match the stuff you're listening to, you should check out this website http://www.last.fm/ It keeps track of your music library as you play the songs, and it eventually starts recommending music especially for you on the homepage (you can also get some free mp3s) I love it haha :P

  13. Thanks for the comment. I love your blog, and how it's this melting pot of fashion, photography, music, and film. It's a real treat.

I remember hearing about Uffie a couple of years ago, but I never actually heard any of her tunes until I watched the video you posted. Talk about sensory overload--the song is a tune, the clothes are gorgeous and kitsch, and the video itself is pretty fantastic.

Currently in heavy rotation for me are: Nina Simone and Lykke Li.

  17. I am addicted to Redshape. http://www.delsinrecords.com/artist.php?idxArtist=36 (Electronic music from Berlin)

And also King Of Convenience is producing instant classic tunes. Only guitar and vocals, sometimes added with a piano and / or violin instrument playing in the back. They're performing today in Paradiso...unfortunately I don't have a ticket!
