Fortunately she was keen to meet up again, only this time in the middle of the winter in Amsterdam. TENUE DE NîMES: A VIDEO INTERVIEW

Tenue de Nîmes is a Dutch denim and menswear speciality store and first opened its doors three years ago. Since their inception they were heralded as the 'it' store for menswear in Amsterdam. Now three years later they have a wide assortment of labels under their helm and release Journal de Nîmes every now and then, which is their own paper. Needless to say I was quite excited when I was able to interview the two men behind the success of this relatively small, yet exquisite store. I hope you all like the light hearted video. Although I am nowadays predominantly busy working on editorials, filming and doing a variety of mixed commercial stuff; this is how it all started. It's so refreshing to pick it up again and to be very very picky about who I photograph and consider to have style. Amsterdam is a difficult city to snap away on a daily basis, but once in a while you come across people who know how to dress up and carry themselves. SAINT GERMAIN - A VIDEO DIRECTED BY YOURS TRULY

It has been a while since my last post on here and that is mainly due to me being overloaded with commercial work. On my blog I essentially only want to post work that I think fits it's format. That's why I am wary of posting just anything. Today, however, I've new content to share!

A little more than a week ago I shot and directed the teaser above for Amsterdam based creative agency and concept boutique: SAINT GERMAIN. They are an adorable group of young people who have taken on the challenge of setting up a new agency. When they approached me to see if we could collaborate it only took me a few sips of my coffee and snippets of their story and what they are on about to say yes. I hope you all like the result. Once in a while I come across a character that I can only film in black and white. Wing Mei is such a person. She fuses a boyish haircut (although not so apparent in this video) with feminine style like no other. For this episode I asked her to wear something slightly retro and to typify this fusion. Lee is a stylist, consultant, dj, an allround nice guy and he used to be the editor-in-chief of STATE Mag (a Dutch hiphop magazine). At the time of shooting this material Lee was going through a rough patch as he just had broken up with his girlfriend and had to figure out what he wants to do next along the way. A NUMMER 9 SUMMER TALE (VIDEO)

Nummer 9 has rapidly become one of my favourite stores in Amsterdam. Although they do not sell any menswear they are stocking some of the most amazing women's labels out there. Wild + Fox, Opening Ceremony, Hope, RVCA and House of Dagmar amongst others grace the shop's shelves and racks. Needless to say I was quite thrilled when Nummer 9's owner Priscilla was up for a collaboration with me. Keeping the style and technique of my ONE MINUTE series in mind I wanted to create a dreamscape. Some sort of escape from our daily worries. I dub it: "An atmospheric exploration into floating romance and individuality." (READ MORE)

In a 1-on-1 interview with Priscilla I asked her why she started the shop. I will paraphrase what she has said to me in Dutch in response: Creativity is about continuous development. Personally, I evolve on a creative and personal level by running this store. I have to play different roles: buyer, PR, accounting and develop an image for the store.

One of those inevitable questions when you have a conversation with a professional in this industry is, which do they rate more: style or fashion? She was crystal clear about it: Definitely style. Style is a personal thing, fashion is temporary - it fades in and fades out.

Tell me Priscilla, what is your favourite personal item? It has got to be my AF Vandervorst wedges from my time working there.

What do you consider to be a classic? A nice pair of jeans and a simple black dress. Two essential items in a woman's closet. Focus should be on simple, yet refined silhouettes.

In the video we see the girl wearing two different outfits. Why did you choose these particular items? (Mind you, it was in conjunction with yours truly.) To me the items shown represents the style of my store. Edgy, tough and in some cases androgynous, and most of all tongue-in-cheek.

Priscilla Wisman finds inspiration in books, music, architecture, history, fashion and, well, basically in everything. She envisions herself to continue growing and developing. Opening up a new store specialised in menswear. Starting her own clothing brand. Oh well, anything can happen and there is nothing wrong with dreaming, now is there.

Matthieu Antoine Thierry Jansen, is a model, a marketeer, a(n)n (ex)bartender and most of all; a very relaxed person to film. You could tell he is at ease with cameras and modelling, but not all models can act - let that be clear. He simply did what I asked of him and I am pleased the way it turned out. This series is a nice opportunity for me to tap into styles and techniques which I always have wanted to explore. Yesterday was such a beautiful day. In between my meetings I had the opportunity to photograph some streetstyle, of which I will post more next week. Wing Mei - above - is wearing mainly vintage and tops it off with a pair of United Nude shoes. Today I filmed Naleye Junior Dolmans for my One Minute project. He is such a great character and so easy to film. His spontaneity and improvisation are great assets. After I recorded all the scripted sequences I took the opportunity to test my newly acquired Yashica FR. These are the shots that I took of Naleye while we were off-duty and it's immediately some fresh (Amsterdam) streetstyle (click here for BONUS picture!) Luckily my analogue Yashica is a LEAKED one, which causes the awesome film burn every other shot.

Ahh. After 5 days of fashion bonanza it is coming to an end. This London Fashion Week was one of my favourites. It was quite tranquil for fashion week standards. A lot of rain, many umbrellas, yet very colour and cheerful. I have tons of streetstyle pictures to sort out, so keep a tab open on this blog for the next coming weeks as I'll be posting styles on a regular basis.

Officially Amsterdam Fashion Week commences tomorrow, but today there were already some interesting shows to see. I attended one of them which was Non by Kim in the beautiful Museum Willet-Holthuysen. Non by Kim is another menswear label to grace the small and puerile fashion scene of Amsterdam. This was my first time attending a show in Amsterdam that I actually really liked. And that's quite something! I snip snapped some pictures of the presentation, which are clickable for enlargement! The fashion week bonanza is around the corner and Paris Menswear is already happening this weekend. So I am all thrilled and excited. The first one I'll attend is the local one in Amsterdam. Won't be going to too many shows as they bore me too death in Holland bar a few exciting talents. What I will do, however, is hover around the premises to spot any daring Dutchie. Fingers crossed. Last Thursday I organised, together with Valtteri Laihanen from Early Colors, the exhibition: Art Proof. The idea was to create a platform for a variety of artists that reside in Amsterdam, but who are not necessarily Dutch. The audience was nicely mixed with expats, locals and of a wide age bracket. Winter is now rapidly becoming reality in Amsterdam and the city starts to get that frosty look - a look that I have captured before as you can see in the archives on this blog. Finally, I found some spare time to update again and I must apology for the lack of them in recent times. I am working on several video projects and some of them are almost finished - which should give me more time to start blogging again. I have dug out the pictures above from the archives of last AIFW. Perhaps the only time in Amsterdam that there is some decent amount of fashionable people in the same place at the same time. So, my beloved readers how have you been doing all this time? Last Friday the Dutch Fashion Awards were held at De Oude Kerk in The Hague. Two of my favourite Dutch designers were in the running for a couple of prizes and I am glad to announce that Iris van Herpen won the main prize and Bas Kosters won the international incubator prize. Also click on the picture above to see the 'behind-the-scenes' pictures that I took of the models during the DFA. In most cases I only could use a singular light - so they are pretty revealing and crisp. Hope you like it.

Tomorrow I'm going to the final fittings for the Harry Halim show which takes place on Wednesday. Harry Halim is an upcoming young designer with great support from the Asian market and an ever increasing loyal fan base around the world. I'm fortunate enough to be recording his show on film and I'll follow him tomorrow for the Mykromag documentary. So stuff is coming up soon! Sonny Groo (depicted above) is the founder and editor-in-chief of Mykromag (check the website) and has just launched the first print issue of Mykromag together with a book on 30+ upcoming names in the creative industry. I abducted these two lovelies during Amsterdam International Fashion Week and I made Dido hold the balloons, which we found unguarded near the properties, which made modelling for them so much more fun.
